A reminder of the revised rules for the establishment of hospital pharmacies - Part 1

🔶A reminder of the revised rules for the establishment of hospital pharmacies - Part 1.

➤A hospital pharmacy may be not established in a medical establishment only if three conditions are met

1. with the approval of the Provincial Pharmaceutical Inspector, which takes the form of an administrative decision and is issued at the request of the therapeutic establishment;

2. there is no need to use medicines that require pharmacist supervision in the provision of services; in order to meet this condition, the applicant must demonstrate, during the procedure for obtaining permission not to establish a hospital pharmacy, that no such medicines will be used in that establishment; and

3. the provision by the medical unit of therapeutic activities in the form of 24-hour non-hospital health care services in the field of

-Psychiatric and addiction treatment;

-Medical rehabilitation;

- nursing and long-term care;

-palliative and hospice care.

➤If the health care institution does not provide any services other than those listed above, none of the units of the health care institution need to be supplied with medicines by a hospital pharmacy or a pharmacy department and therefore the health care institution does not need to have a hospital pharmacy or a hospital pharmacy department.
